The queen bee can live 2 to 5 years, the female worker bee has a life span of 28 to 35 days. The worker bee that has been reared in September & October, however, can live through the winter. The male bee, or drone, lives 40 to 50 days. One single bee usually visits between 50-1000 flowers a day. Bees from the same hive visit about 225,000 flowers per day. A bee travels an average of 1600 round trips in order to produce one ounce of honey; up to 6 miles per trip to produce 2 pounds of honey. A bee flies an average 13-15 mph. & visits about 2 million flowers to make 1 lb. of honey! Henry Dupere Bee Garden Sculpture
